AT&T Sports Center will be closed July 1-5
Court Refurbishing

AT&T Sports Center will be closed July 1st through July 5th while we refurbish our gym floors. This is a necessary act for us to maintain quality floors, enabling us to provide the best playing conditions possible for our members. We have chosen to do this in early July, as it is a long holiday weekend with many members already out of town. The warm weather will also allow us to air out the facility quicker, and with a minimal amount of inconvenience to our members. We will re-open at 5am on July 6. Thank you for your patience… ‘We know you will appreciate the end result’!

New… Pitching Machine and Batting Cage
Iron Mike MP6 Hopper-Fed Pitching Machine

Iron Mike MP6 Hopper-Fed Pitching MachineHitting is all about timing. You must have the proper timing to know when to start your swing and when to shift your weight. This is achieved by watching the pitcher's arm and release of the ball. An arm-style pitching machine is the only type of pitching machine that gives you that same sense of timing. With each pitch you see the machine's arm wind up and release the ball. It is the realistic nature of the machine that allows you to practice the same fundamentals in the batting cages as you use on the field. Because of this, the Iron Mike™ arm-style pitching machines are the favorite machines of professional players and coaches worldwide.

  • Hopper-fed 600 baseball or 400 softball capacity
  • Throws 25-85 MPH
  • Heavy duty arm and hand system
  • Easily converted from baseball to softball
  • Built-in low voltage remote control
  • Hold-down clips for permanent installation
  • Lockable arm guard cover
  • Electrically powered - 115 volt A.C. motor

Question of the Month:

I am so busy during the summer, do I really need to continue my exercise plan?

Answer:

While it is true that most people are more active during the long days of summer, many people find that if they discontinue their planned activity routine, not only do they gain some weight, but will find it more difficult to return to their original fitness level when the snowflakes return. Activities of daily life are a great way to get more bang for your exercise buck and can reduce your gym time, but don’t forget the importance of balanced cardio, strength training, and flexibility work to maintain optimal fitness throughout the year. Get out there and enjoy the sunshine and we will offer a variety of great classes to keep your summer routine fresh and fun.

Exercise of the Month
Summer Exercise Adventure

There are a variety of fun events in our area over the summer to indulge your competitive side such as running, triathlons, hill-climbs and so much more.

Beyond organized play there are many other activities you can incorporate to alleviate your summer need for speed. Our area offers, in addition to stunning beauty, an amazing variety of terrain for outdoor exercise.

Choose off-road areas for running, hiking, and walking activities as much as possible, but refrain from doing them solo. A work out buddy can keep you motivated and safe as well as keep you off streets where automobiles and pollutants can hurt you.

Choose day hikes with a variety of intensity levels to strengthen your body and increase your endurance. Incorporating bike rides can help to get your family involved and turn your work-out time into great family bonding time.

Get your kids out in the yard for old-fashioned picnic games to liven up an afternoon work-out, use the pillow cases, and hard boiled eggs just like they did in the old days; you know, before video games were invented? Fishing can even become an exercise adventure when you carry everything in, then relax knowing you get to do it all over on the way out!

Every day when you wake up just take a look around you and try to find a new and exciting way to make your day an adventure in exercise.
